Javier Del Ser graduated as a Telecommunications Engineer from the University of the Basque Country (2003). PhD in Telecommunications from the University of Navarra (2006, Cum Laude), and PhD in Information and Communications Technologies (Cum Laude and Extraordinary Doctorate Award) ) by the University of Alcalá de Henares (2013). He is currently Tecnalia Research Professor and Technological Manager of the OPTIMA business area (Optimization, Modeling and Data Analytics) of Tecnalia. He is also Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country (EHU / UPV), guest researcher at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) and senior advisor on Artificial Intelligence at the Sherpa technology startup. His research activity focuses on the mimetization of behaviors observed in nature for the design of efficient computing methods for data analytics, machine learning, heuristics and, in general, descriptive, prescriptive and predictive analytical data. Thanks to the models resulting from Javier’s research, it is possible to solve highly complex problems related to Renewable Energies, Smart Grids, Telecommunications, Industry, Health and Mobility, among many others. In these fields, Javier has published more than 250 scientific-technical publications, edited 5 books, directed 30 theses / master’s theses and 9 doctoral theses, as well as participated / directed more than 40 research projects. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and recipient of the “Talent of Bizkaia” award in recognition of his experience and scientific curriculum. Javier has given talks related to data analytics, signal processing and optimization in several Universities and Research Centers, both national and international. He is an avid reader and passionate about research that always spreads his knowledge in duplex mode: “transmit, listen”.
